America had a chance this week to once again flex its muscles for democracy and choose a new president to lead our country. Now, I am not going to say who I voted for,...but I will say that we got a chance to go to the John McCain "celebration" party and we went. :)
We parked off site from where it was being held and waited in a line for a very long time for our turn to be shuttled over to the "party". As we waited and shuttled we kept checking for updates on Mike's phone as the results were coming in to see who was taking which states. As we entered the ballroom, we were greeted with reporters and bright lights on risers around the perimeter. It was quite an organized circus.
The highlight of our time there was that Mike got to hear Hank Williams Jr. perform on stage. The pictures is a little blurry, but you get the idea. We were quite close.
However, it wasn't enough to keep us there. Once we saw that Ohio went to Obama, it was decided that we were going to leave before everyone else decided that the party was also over and the shuttle line was crazy going back. But not before we got a picture of Mike in front of the last viewing of the "Straight Talk Express". Our rally pom-pom went to Katie.

We went out to dinner and had front row seats to the concession speech by the television that we sat by in comfort and quiet. Yes, we could have been 20-40 feet away from history, but we saw it just the same. I have no grand illusions about political parties anymore. Maybe I have been to a few too many Boy Scout functions. Unless you are with the ones you love, it is just not much of a party. But it was fun to have a chance to go and see and be a part of it for a moment. Most of the rest of the week was busy with school, school, Mike's work, and me keeping busy. Two cute pictures of the week, though...
Here is Christian when he came out of his room one night and sat in the chair across from Mike and I. Before we could get a question out to him, he was asleep in the chair. How cute.
The other picture is from tonight. We met Mike after a long day of doing interviews for prospective employees and after we had just gotten Katie's hair cut. Look at these good buddies...especially when they have had good sleep. Hopefully that will be accomplished tonight.

Omigoodness, what a cute haircut! I hope you love it Katie-girl. You are a pretty gal! :)
)))HUGS to you all!(((
Wow, Cheryl. I just had to comment again about one thing... YOU have the most perfect and gorgeous smile! By far the most perfect teeth and perfectly shaped lips I have ever seen!
Remember to always SMILE A LOT!
That's really cool that you got to go to the rally! Exciting stuff. What a sobering night I thought.
HOWEVER, I was so happy that the marriage propositions went through in CA and AZ. I was really surprised about CA as I figured them to be a lot more liberal.
And Katie's bob haircut is very cute! I like how it tapers in. It really suits her.
Sleeping Christian - priceless!
Emily, you are so sweet! I will show Katie your comment in the morning, she will be tickled! And you are so sweet about my smile. It is what got me the first date with Mike, you know. :) I guess, I just never think about it.
Jeralee, yes, it was a very sobering night. I guess when politicians get elected we see what promises they keep. I just hope this time that many of them aren't :). Yes, we were VERY happy about the marriage ammendments passing. I was actually praying for that most of the day (and long before that). Florida passed too by 62%. They had to have at lesat 60% to pass so I didn't think that that would even happen! But it did. And funny thing about CA, many of the minority voters that came out and voted for Obama also voted FOR the marriage ammendment. So I guess you can say, without Obama, it would have failed. And that is full of irony. Thanks about the kids too.
Cherylann, I love reading your fun blog and you do have a beautiful smile with perfect teeth and such. You are the Mary Poppins of BSA wives. miss you friend.
Love the new Doo! Now Katie looks even more adorable and so grown up.
Those milkshakes look good.
My favorite is the picture
of Christian sleeping. Priceless!
How fun to go to the Rally.
I cried during McCains concession
speech. I was thinking it was
the best one I had ever heard.
Even in losing...Character Counts!
Call me again so we can catch up.
Keri - Mary Poppins of the BSA? LOL, you crack me up. I will try to call you again tomorrow!
It is so cool that you guys got to go to the McCain rally. It is always neat to have some connection to history. Have a great week.
What an amazing opportunity to be at the McCain rally. Of course if it was a different result it would have been amazing, but what an experience! I love having cool experiences like that.
How awesome is that. You have some really exciting happenings going on there. I think being in a moment of history is totally cool, and then having the wisdom on top of it to know that you can enjoy it from the television is awesomer. Tim is going to have you teach me that skill very soon!
Wow! You guys are celebrities! I can't believe I get to live only a few houses down from you. When you get the chance I want an autograph.
Jerae - You crack me up. Come on down, you can even have lunch with me. :)
